![]() Once we came home that evening, we had a delicious soup on a very cold day. Add pasta simmer for 8-10 minutes, or until pasta is tender. Stir in broth, tomatoes and beans bring to a boil over medium-high heat. That means in the morning, I simply drained the beans and then added them in. In large Dutch oven, cook sausage, onion, celery and carrot over medium-high heat until sausage is browned and crumbles. I prepped the rest of the ingredients for the slow cooker the night before. I decided to soak the beans overnight, and then toss them into the slow cooker in the morning. I paired it with cornbread though, and if my kids see cornbread they are all in for the meal that evening. He did really well with this one, it was probably the most skeptical I have been so far on these rules as to whether he would eat it. Say what? I love that you can get a package of 15 Bean Soup Mix at the store to use in this, and it is very inexpensive. We had so much soup, that we actually took some to my parents too, and shared the bean wealth. This is such a frugal meal, plus it feeds a lot!
